System of work in tartous port:

The Port operates a three-shift system /24/ hours a day, each shift of /8/ hours.

for operation on all in coming cargo except containers, RO-RO, car carriers and bulk cargo vessels which are operated to the demand of their owners shippers, as well as live sheep,

vegetable and fruit cargo, where operation may go on without stop (24 hours a day).For bulk cargo operation, the port company has the necessaryequipment needed for discharging such as: grabs, hoppers and serial suckers.

cargo owners are also allowed to bring into the port and use their own discharging equipment for boosting the discharging operation.

The port has enough warehouses to accommodate large commodities of bulk and general cargo.

The Port Company stops its work on national and religious holidays in addition to Friday and Saturday (weekend) without any effects on discharging and loading operations or ships coming and leaving ,operation of ships can operator

Port management:

* public owned service company sector of transport and storage.

*Responsible for managing and operating the port with all its facilities and plants in cooperation with some other parties evolved in certain types of cargo such as theGeneral Establishment for phosphate and Mines and the General Establishment forOperating the Grain silos.

*Provides all necessary services for shipping discharging and storageof cargo.

*Pays a great interest in Araband international transit.

*The tariffs rates and fees on cargo are less than those in the neighboring countries port.

*The security of the port, its facilities cargo …etc, is ensure by a team of security people available 24 hours a day, who control all yards, warehouses and all other locations. these men are also organizing traffic inside the port territory.

*A Team of qualified people managing pillage activities, are available 24 hours a day and control the towage, pillage and berthing of the vessels calling the portand using modern tugboats.

*In the pilot station there is a modern watch tower and a radio station tower. the radio station operates on the channels no 11,13,14, and 16 v.h.f.

* The port company implements a medical service system for all its employees and  pays  all related costs.
